The highly-anticipated second collection from Dublin poet Colm Keegan, Randomer, will be released by Salmon Poetry on February 22nd.

Known as an indispensable and inspirational figure in the formation of Ireland’s contemporary poetry scene, electrifyingly honest in performance and a virtuoso of stark lyricism on the page, Colm Keegan returns after the critical success of his debut in 2012 with a new collection Randomer, a poetic tour de force.

Despite charting a life lived through austerity, the housing crisis and the predations of political elites, and bankers, Colm Keegan’s optimism - for his children, his family, and his community - never flags. While still honouring his roots in the Dublin vernacular, Keegan increases his range, more sophisticated and diverse in style, more mature in tone. Randomer focuses on the gains and losses of life as it is truly lived. Even on the most difficult terrain Keegan is a sure-footed and trustworthy guide.

Since winning the All Ireland Poetry Slam in 2010 and publishing the critically acclaimed Don’t Go There (with Salmon Poetry) in 2012, Colm Keegan went on to blaze a trail as the first poet to be awarded a residency at the Lexicon, Ireland’s largest public library. He co-founded Lingo, Dublin’s ground-breaking spoken word festival, bringing live literature to the masses. After co-writing an award winning play that sold out at the Dublin Fringe and toured abroad, he went on to write his first feature length work ‘For Saoirse’, staged in Axis Theatre 2016 and due to return this year. He also had a successful stint of script writing for television and had a short play in The Abbey Theatre as part of The 24 Hour Plays 2017, all this while still continuing to perform and write poetry, developing a voice that both screams and sings from this powerful second collection. Randomer according to Donal Ryan is:

“A pounding, propulsive collection that has a physical effect on the reader. Sometimes sublime, often devastating. An important, radiant collection of poetry. One that should be read by every citizen of this state.” Donal Ryan, Author.

This exciting new collection is not to be missed.

Randomer can be pre-ordered at for €12.00. The collection, published in paperback edition, will be launched on Thursday, Feb 22nd at The Cobalt Cafe, North Great Georges St, Dublin 1 at 8.00pm, and thereafter also available to purchase in bookshops and online from Salmon.

"One of the most important voices in contemporary Irish literature” Kerrie O Brien

"A pounding, propulsive collection that has a physical effect on the reader. Sometimes sublime, often devastating. So many moments where you’ll have to stop, and then read and reread again, such is the intensity, the coiled power compressed into the lines. A beautiful, compassionate, intelligent exposition of the lives and times of people on the hard end of the wedge. An important, radiant collection of poetry. One that should be read by every citizen of this state.” Donal Ryan

"Superlatives such as genuine, authentic and passionate are used a lot in the description of some poets, whilst Colm Keegan is all of these things he is also a master craftsman of poetry. He has a searing intelligence and uses this to give poetic voice to the Irish working class and often for those who do not have one. He is one of our best living poets.” Emmet Kirwan

"Delving into themes of mid-life, fatherhood, love, belonging and family, with solid observations and self-surrendering language, here is a poet now ready to watch and listen. Keegan is loyal to his trade, never hiding truth, or shirking responsibility. RANDOMER catapults Keegan into the anti hero role of his own tales. The Dublin that created him, he bravely recreates, through lines that are gritty yet gorgeous. Keegan continues to write politically, honouring the list poem, watching Ireland with a satirical eye and sharp wit, while questioning the poet’s place in everything; the home, the city, even his place in poetry and it’s lure, for better or worse. RANDOMER is a fascinating read. It finds edgy beauty in the banality of human struggle, in a world that’s off kilter. These poems are gut wrenchingly raw and beautiful. You will return to this book again and again. Keegan is a romantic with nerve and bravery. We find solace in his path.”  Elaine Feeney

"Colm Keegan is the antidote to poetic self-indulgence. A rare and gifted blend of craftsman & truth-teller, in a world too often consumed by the sheen of its own veneer.” Stephen Murphy

"Lively, provocative and literary bullshit...achieves the most terrific sense of drama from the familiar." David Morley Poetry UK Review

"Creates an image of a rarely seen Dublin far away from the one portrayed by the media" Katherine Lockton Eyewear Mag UK

"Nobody is writing like Colm Keegan at the moment. A very distinct unusual voice. A brilliant collection...Gives voice to a lot of people in a very artistic and poetic way." Sinead Gleeson. Irish Times. RTE Arena
